But the game had an alpha version and a beta version too. And this section is going to be about that.
Early Age Of Empires II version[]
SavageShark from YouTube bought an Age of Empires 2 Age of Kings disc in one of the markets in 1999. Then it came to pass that the game seemed to be in the earlier development stage. That includes a Joan of Arc campaign, map editor and, disappointingly though, most of the units' sprites are from Age of Empires itself. But the thing that can be noticed is that the intro is longer than it is now. It has more cutscenes and more music. In the final version, most of the cutscenes was removed. However, some of these cutscenes was used in the expansion.
The following cutscenes have been removed:
- The cutscene where two guards can be seen.
- A cutscene with a Relic.
The uncut version of the intro is also slower than the one in the final version because the cutscenes are longer.
Beta Music[]
The Age of Kings' early versions had a different menu song. The menu music was different and didn't sound like the final one. Don't know why it was changed. However parts of it survived somehow into the current one.
