On June 17, 2002, during the Yurkish Grand Prix, Oliver Volleams crashed in the then Vanav-turn (now the Volleams-turn) after the tunnel on the fourth lap. On a straight road, he pressed the gas so fast that he could not stop the car. At the end, he suddenly loses the control of his car when it drives out of the road and into a barrier. Volleams succumbed to his injuries three days later.
